Ancient Treasure of Knowledge on Stamp

Among all the stamps of India Post, this particular stamp enshrines the ancient knowledge. Featuring Panini – the Sanskrit Grammarian, this stamp also treasures some facts unknown to us.Sanskrit – one of the oldest languages of the world is the vast ocean of knowledge. It is the real key to our past and helps to unravel the myriad mysteries in our ancient texts and of our religious-cultural traditions.
The Panini stamp was released in the honour of Panini in 2004. The stamp features the sage engrossed in his compositions. The symbols shown in left column are Brahmi numerals from 1 – 9. A rectangle with partition in the background denotes a “kundali. Hence, a sun is shown in right corner.
The Red arc around the sun denotes the moon. There's a symbol of 2 and a swastika below the. The 2 lines stand for the sun and the moon and swastika is the holy symbol believed to be the bringer of good and auspicious.
